Message from the Third President

Dear members, experts, scholars, and all our supportive partners:

I am very honored to serve as the President of the Taiwan Musculoskeletal and Neurological Ultrasound Society.

In this rapidly changing medical environment, we face unprecedented challenges and opportunities. The development of ultrasound technology has brought revolutionary changes to our clinical practice, allowing us to diagnose and treat musculoskeletal disorders more accurately.

Future Directions

In the coming days, our society will focus on the following areas:

  1. Promoting Education and Training: We will hold more workshops and seminars to enhance the professional skills of our members, enabling more healthcare professionals to master ultrasound techniques.
  2. Strengthening International Cooperation: We will seek collaboration with international organizations to share experiences and knowledge, enhancing Taiwan's influence on the international stage.

I sincerely thank each member for your support and efforts. I hope that through our collective efforts, we can advance the development of musculoskeletal and neurological ultrasound medicine in Taiwan, benefiting more patients.

Message from the Second President

First of all, I would like to thank all the members for your support, which has allowed me to continue serving as the President of our society for the next three years, working hard to promote ultrasound in neurology, orthopedics, and musculoskeletal medicine.

During my tenure as the first President of the Taiwan Musculoskeletal and Neurological Ultrasound Society (from 2018 to 2021), we faced the global challenge of COVID-19, which indeed affected many of our planned activities, especially international exchanges. Nevertheless, during these three years, our membership grew from 135 to 329 members. We organized and co-organized 21 seminars, and the number of co-sponsored seminars was countless. At the end of 2021, we invited Dr. Gi-Young Park from Korea and Dr. Yuko Nakashima from Japan to give presentations via video, marking a new era of international seminars.

In the upcoming three-year term, I will adhere to the mission established by our society, enhancing and developing the technical standards of musculoskeletal and neurological ultrasound, promoting relevant education and academic research, and collaborating with other academic organizations and relevant international groups. Firstly, I plan to integrate nationwide courses related to musculoskeletal and neurological ultrasound and publish them on our website, allowing members to easily choose and plan suitable courses. The society will also attempt to offer specific courses to address existing gaps, and the recording of online courses will be considered. The certification for specialists in musculoskeletal and neurological ultrasound is also in the planning stages. In future annual meetings, we will plan for the presentation of Free Papers and provide awards, as well as consider establishing a paper award to enhance academic research related to musculoskeletal and neurological ultrasound.

Our society has maintained excellent collaboration with other domestic societies, such as the Pain Society, Rehabilitation Medicine Society, and Regenerative Medicine Society, and we hope to expand this to more societies. As the COVID-19 pandemic gradually eases this year, it presents a great opportunity for us to reconnect with the international community and promote musculoskeletal and neurological ultrasound in Asia.

The new board of directors and supervisors includes many new members, while experienced colleagues remain to contribute their efforts. Let us follow the established path and move forward step by step.

Message from the First President

Since Professor Wang Chongli began developing musculoskeletal ultrasound at National Taiwan University Hospital in 1994, over 25 years have passed. During this time, under Professor Wang's leadership and the efforts of many predecessors, the use of musculoskeletal ultrasound has become very common. For clinicians treating muscle, bone, and nerve disorders, it can be said that "every practitioner has a machine," achieving Professor Wang's prediction that "ultrasound will become the second stethoscope for clinicians."

In 1997, pioneers using musculoskeletal and neurological ultrasound established a subgroup under the Chinese Medical Ultrasound Society. However, as the number of users of musculoskeletal and neurological ultrasound has increased, the Chinese Ultrasound Medicine Society, formed by all ultrasound experts, has been unable to meet our needs in certain areas, particularly in international exchanges. Therefore, on December 2, 2018, we established our society to provide a platform for users of musculoskeletal, bone, and nerve ultrasound to communicate effectively.

The goals of our society are to promote the development of musculoskeletal, bone, and neurological ultrasound in Taiwan, establish standards and accuracy for examinations, update relevant knowledge and information, and develop related techniques and skills. Furthermore, we aim to foster international cooperation and participation. To achieve this goal, we sincerely welcome all interested individuals to join our society and work together towards these objectives.
